FAQ

What is Laser Light Therapy?

Laser Therapy is a Veterinarian prescribed drug-free, non-surgical treatment option that has the ability to improve function and accelerate healing through biochemical changes. FDA approved since 2003, laser therapy is a trusted alternative to costly Veterinarian visits.

Laser Therapy ignites a cascade of events when photons or packets of light are sent deep into tissue where they are absorbed within the cells, inducing a chemical change called “Photobiomodulation”. This light energy increases the production of ATP – this is the fuel, or energy, cells need for repair and rejuvenation.

What are the positive effects of Laser Light Therapy?

•Decreases inflammation and edema by increasing blood flow and lymphatic drainage
•Promotes faster healing times by increasing cellular turnover
•Reduces scar tissue formation
•Activates immune cells
•Provides pain relief by suppressing nerve signals to the brain
•Increases the production of the pets own pain controlling receptors

How do I know if my pet could benefit from Laser Light Therapy?

Candidates include pets diagnosed with osteoarthritis or degenerative problems both genetic and acquired later in life.
•Pets recovering from surgery
•Working, service, and competition dogs for “maintenance therapy” similar to humans visiting a Chiropractor

What are the common conditions treated with Laser Therapy?

•Osteoarthritis
•Muscle/soft tissue injuries
•Ligaments and Tendons
•Cruciate Ligament Tears
•Trauma/Fractures
•Spinal Cord Injuries/Bulging Herniated Discs
•Degenerative Joint Disease
•Genetic Disorders
•Intervertebral Disc Disease (IVDD)
•Hip and Elbow Dysplasia
•Luxating Patellas

What should I expect during and after treatment?

HealGlow offers in-clinic and mobile care in the comfort of your home. Treatment times vary from 5-20 minutes depending on the afflicted area, the size of your pet, and how many areas are being treated. The frequency and number of treatments vary on the unique issues of your pet.

Once the laser treatment begins, your pet will feel a gentle warm heat resulting in the almost immediate relief of pain, also igniting the sequence of Photobiomodulation and all its proactive benefits. After the session has ended, your pet will continue to yield the residual benefits of the chemical changes that have taken place.

Are there any side effects?

There are no known side effects to Laser Therapy except the potential for damage to the eye if it comes into direct contact, so for this reason it is important that all Humans and Pets wear protective eyewear while treatments are being administered.
