What Is Photobiomodulation Laser Therapy? (PBMT)
Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation (LASER) therapy is an innovative treatment for non-invasive pain management. The therapeutic use of light is absorbed by the chromophores in the body to stimulate non-harmful reactions within a living cell. This response to infrared light results in a beneficial physiological and biochemical outcome for the surrounding structures and tissues.

Benefits of Light Therapy
Physiological Effects | Biochemical Effects |
Strengthens muscle, tendons and ligament attachments | Increases Serotonin Levels which is a neurotransmitter which helps to modulate pain response |
Muscle Relaxation | Increase in production of endogenous opioids |
Decrease in Nerve Sensitivity | Impedes production of GABA which is a chemical responsible for the inhibition of pain controlling receptors |
Promotes an overall less painful status of patient | Increases the production of Dopamine which in turn signals the pleasure center of the brain. |
Reduces Inflammation | Vasodilation –opening of the blood vessels |
Reduces Swelling /Edema | Activates the Lymphatic drainage system |
Promotes Faster Healing Times | Increased Cellular Proliferation |
